My Story
I'm Luke Lucas a freelance creative professional and father of 2 living on the northern beaches of Sydney. I first begun to explore meditation in my early 20s when I was suffering from the negative effects of what was a very busy mind. I struggled with insomnia and anxiety and was very much a victim to my thoughts.
Over the last 25 years I've explored many styles of meditation but the technique that has helped me most with my ability to be clear and present, get a decent night's sleep and have a greater capacity to discern which thoughts are actually helpful and which are merely a distraction has been Vedic Meditation.
I've been practicing this technique twice a day for the last 12 years and it's effects on my sense of wellbeing and the way with which I interact with the world have been profound. My relationships, my physical and mental health and my work have all been positively impacted by this practice so much so that I decided to do the necessary training to be able to teach the technique to others.

FAQ
Is it a religious practice?
Regardless of your beliefs this practice works for everyone. It doesn’t require you to have faith in or believe in anything outside of what you can directly experience yourself. There is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom around the practice but whether you choose to explore that is up to you, the practice will work either way.
Do I have to sit cross legged on the floor?
Unlike other forms of meditation, VMM can be practiced anywhere where you are able to sit comfortably. This can be sitting up in bed, on the couch or a comfy chair, with or without back support, or on a cushion. If you like to sit cross legged and it is comfortable for you to  do so , then this is fine also.
I'm too busy to meditate.
There’s a big difference between being busy and being productive. Without a mindfulness practice thoughts of the past and future, financial issues, relationship issues, self-worth issues and the general pressures of modern life have the ability to distract us from the task at hand at any given moment.

Although it may seem like you don’t have time, by being more mindful in the way that you interact with the world, time opens up and you will find that you will be way more productive than you have ever have been.
Will meditation make me lose my edge?
This is one of the greatest misconceptions around meditation. A consistent meditation practice is in fact a performance enhancing tool. This is why it is a technique employed by performance coaches working with elite athletes all over the world. Meditation allows us to cultivate a state of mindfulness, a non judgemental present moment awareness that allows you to respond creatively and efficiently to all that life demands of you.
How long until I experience the benefits?
Everyone's nervous systems are in different shape and our relative experience can be so wildly different. For me, I begun to recognise positive changes almost instantaeously. The benefits of this technique are experienced through a consistent, twice daily practice so to get them most of it, it does require a level of commitment.
Will this technique take years to master?
Not at all. This is not a technique that requires an app, headphones or a class to practice. Once you have learned the technique by completing the course with me you'll be able to practice correctly whenever and wherever you want and if there are any issues I'm always available to help refine your technique.
How does this technique differ from others?
This technique is of a class of meditation known as a Surrender or Effortless transcendence practice. This category includes practices such as Vedic Meditation, Transcendental Meditation, Sattva Meditation and Integrative Meditation. They are different from most other forms of meditation in that they do not require you to focus or concentrate and in fact if you are then you are not practicing correctly.

Each technique has different benefits but this technique in my experience is highly beneficial in releasing stress and fatigue from the body, cultivating mindfulness and granting distance between you and your thoughts enabling you the capacity to discern what is relevant to the moment and what is a distraction. It can only be taught via a trained teacher and each practitioner is given their own bija mantra to use in their practice. What does Vedic Mantra mean?
The word Vedic refers to the origins of this technique, which is in a body of knowledge from India dating back over 5000 years known as the Vedas.

Mantra is a word that is derived from two Sanskrit words, Manas which can be translated to mean mind or heart and Tra which can be translated to mean tool. You can think of it as a mind expansion tool or it's sometimes referred to as a mind vehicle.

Mantras are used in many different techniques in different ways but the way they are used in this technique, the mantra is used purely for it's vibrational quality and has no intended meaning. You can think of mantra like a mental sound.

In this practice we use a particular type of mantra known as a bija mantra.
